OpenSea, a nonfungible token (NFT) platform, has responded to accusations that a former employee, Kevin Pawlak, was involved in the AnubisDAO rug pull in 2021. The accusations were made by the anonymous account NFT Ethics on social media. Both NFT Ethics and blockchain analytics account Lookonchain alleged that Pawlak, under the pseudonymous identity “0xSisyphus,” played a role in hyping the AnubisDAO project and transferring raised funds to external wallets. However, OpenSea stated that it was unaware of Pawlak’s involvement and emphasized that he had a limited scope while working there. The company also mentioned that the alleged activities took place before Pawlak’s time at OpenSea. Blockchain sleuth ZachXBT expressed doubts about the accusations, stating that the thread made assumptions based on unrelated events without facts. It was also noted that 0xSisyphus had offered a bounty to identify the wallet address that drained the pool and engaged law enforcement. ZachXBT highlighted the difference between negligence and stealing money from one’s own project and suggested that two pseudonymous users, “Beerus” and “Ersan,” were likely responsible for the loss of funds in the AnubisDAO scandal.
